PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bon Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harris comes into the arena with Lightning Man blaring out of the sound system. Harry Callahan is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bon Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Harry Callahan!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harris scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Callahan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Callahan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Harris has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Harris decides to stand back up. Harris steps back and let's Callahan get back to his feet.
Callahan throws a right and a left that Harris avoids nicely.

Harris instigates a clinch.
Callahan's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Harris has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Callahan is trying to keep an underhook but Harris manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Harris is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Callahan!
Harris trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Harris takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Harris looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harris pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Harris wants to control the pace but Callahan is squirming around nicely.

Harris is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Callahan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Callahan is trying to get back to his feet but Harris has full control of the position and if anything, Callahan has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Harris looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Callahan lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Harris backs up against the cage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Harris counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Harris.

Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Callahan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Harris drops back looking for a leg! Callahan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Callahan manages to kick Harris off! Harris jumps back into Callahan's guard.

Harris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Harris's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Callahan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Harris counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Harris misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Harris shoots in and bounces Callahan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Harris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Harris stays in close to Callahan's body and controls the position.

Harris is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Harris is looking for a kimura but Callahan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Harris to get the leverage.

Callahan is staying active underneath Harris, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Harris postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Callahan looks a forlorn figure.
Harris fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Callahan is trying desperately to improve position.

Harris is working for a guillotine from mount but Callahan frees his head quite easily.
Bon Harris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harris tries to control but Callahan wriggling away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Harris throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

and Harris counters by moving into the clinch.

Harris has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Callahan clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Callahan is trapped and Harris is scoring with shots to the head and body.

and Harris counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Harris.

Callahan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Harris darts in and clinches Callahan up against the cage.
Callahan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Harris keeps control of Callahan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Harris is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Callahan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Harris wants to control from the top but Callahan keeps moving.
Harris would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Harris prevents Callahan from getting back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Harris displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Callahan throws out the jab.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Harry Callahan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Harris fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Callahan sprawls well initially but Harris persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Callahan is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Harris is tapping! Great win for Callahan!
