The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puncher rushes Kirkland and presses him up against the cage.
Puncher manages to break the clinch.
Puncher gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kirkland to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kirkland postures up.
Puncher wants to sweep but no luck.
Kirkland has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Puncher is proving hard to escape from.
Puncher has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kirkland can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Puncher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Puncher is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kirkland defends well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Puncher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kirkland swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Puncher is posturing up here but Kirkland has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Puncher tries to roll out but it's too tight and Puncher has to tap! Slick submission there by Kirkland!
