The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamato tests Vrey's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Mark Vrey has been cut.
Yamato rushes Vrey and presses him up against the cage.
Yamato wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Yamato gets through Vrey's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Yamato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yamato scores with a nice body kick.
Yamato lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yamato shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vrey pinned against the cage. Vrey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Yamato ducks under a wild hook from Vrey.
Vrey swings widly with a right hand
and Vrey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Yamato looks to land a left hand but Vrey moved out of range nicely.
Yamato pushes Vrey away with a front kick.
Yamato tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vrey paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vrey misses with a left hand
and Yamato counters with a big right hand! Oh Vrey is in trouble here! Yamato follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jin Yamato!
A relieved looking Jin Yamato thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
