Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anthony Bean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Johnstone!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnstone closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bean circles away.

Johnstone closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bean quickly recovers to half guard.
Johnstone should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Johnstone is looking for a kimura but Bean is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnstone to get the leverage.
Johnstone is pressing down on Bean's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bean is holding on for now.

Bean is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnstone pulls his head out easily.

Johnstone tries to bum rush Bean with a series of wild strikes but Bean uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johnstone changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bean looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnstone in particular looking to stall.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Bean wants to clinch.
Johnstone shoots for a double leg takedown but Bean sprawls well. He's pushed Johnstone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
William Johnstone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bean closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Johnstone shoots in and bounces Bean off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bean is looking to stand up but Johnstone isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnstone slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Johnstone is staying tight to Bean's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Johnstone decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bean to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bean shoots in for a takedown but Johnstone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bean tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnstone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bean somewhat.

Anthony Bean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Johnstone.

Come on Johnstone - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Bean wants to break free but Johnstone has control.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Bean is looking to control Johnstone's arms but Johnstone gets an underhook and turns him. Now Bean has his back to the cage.
Bean can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Johnstone jumps into guard, dragging Bean to the mat.

Johnstone throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bean escapes and throws Johnstone's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bean knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnstone on the ground.

Johnstone pulls Bean in close to his closed guard and prevents Bean from doing any damage or advancing position.

Johnstone is controlling Bean's posture.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Johnstone. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

OK we're going to have a standup here. William Johnstone hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Johnstone clinches.

Johnstone has Bean pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Johnstone pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bean tumbling to the mat - Johnstone dives into Bean's guard.
Johnstone is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Bean. No joy for Johnstone on that attempt.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnstone looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bean with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bean is not content to let Johnstone control the position.
Johnstone is nestled in close to Bean, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Johnstone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bean is looking for a sweep. Johnstone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bean bucks up and tries to throw Johnstone off but instead Johnstone has got his back!
Can Bean hold on?! Johnstone is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnstone has the hooks in. Bean is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Anthony Bean has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
William Johnstone is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

William Johnstone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnstone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
