Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Taj Gibson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicolas De Ertu!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Ertu shoots in for a takedown but Gibson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gibson tries to bum rush De Ertu with a series of wild strikes but De Ertu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
De Ertu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
De Ertu moves in looking to clinch but Gibson pushes him off.
De Ertu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
De Ertu has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from De Ertu there as he acknowledges the shot.


It looks like Nicolas De Ertu has been cut.
De Ertu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gibson.
De Ertu dodges the punch combination from Gibson.
Gibson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Gibson lands a jab to the nose.

De Ertu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gibson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

What can Gibson do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

De Ertu lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gibson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
De Ertu lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
De Ertu tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Gibson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for De Ertu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

De Ertu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gibson circles away quickly and effectively.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows.
The crowd are getting on De Ertu's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

De Ertu closes the distance and pushes Gibson back into the ropes.
