The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Attilius stuffs the takedown attempt from Stamatis. Stamatis gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stamatis clobbers Attilius with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Stamatis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Attilius avoids a kick to the body.
Stamatis throws a leg kick which misses Attilius's front leg but catches the back leg as Attilius tries to avoid it.
Stamatis shoots in for a takedown but Attilius shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Stamatis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Attilius tries to avoid it but Stamatis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Attilius to the ground. Attilius escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Stamatis throws a wild body kick that Attilius sees coming a mile off.

Stamatis fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Attilius has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Stamatis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Stamatis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Stamatis shoots in looking for a takedown. Attilius tries to sprawl out of it but Stamatis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Attilius manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stamatis throws a body punch but Attilius moves out of range.

and Attilius counters with a crisp one two that drops Stamatis! Attilius thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Stamatis to his feet! Stamatis is in big trouble!

After the fight, Athan Stamatis was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
