PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between JJ Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Tua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw misses with a straight left.
Tua doesn't manage to clinch there - Shaw circles away.

Shaw has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Kamehameha Fight Club in the buildup to the fight.
Tua throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A swing and a miss from Shaw.
Tua takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Shaw bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Tua is looking to regain half guard here but Shaw keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shaw tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shaw has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Shaw is working to tighten his grip on Tua's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Tua has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Shaw is really squeezing tight and eventually Tua passes out! Shaw breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
