PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Isiah Acer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cross Odenkirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Acer's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mad at Gravity- Burn. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 22 - 1, fighting out of New York, Isiah Acer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cross Odenkirk!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Odenkirk moves away.
Odenkirk tries to clinch there but Acer circles away.
Acer throws a body shot but no joy.
Odenkirk thumps Acer with a low kick.
Acer just misses with a punch to the body.
Odenkirk takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Odenkirk avoids the head kick by Acer.

Acer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Odenkirk has Acer pulled in close to control his posture.
Acer wants to control from the top but Odenkirk keeps moving.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Acer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Odenkirk works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Acer works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Acer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Acer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Odenkirk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Acer is stalling here. Odenkirk is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Acer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Odenkirk has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Odenkirk throwing strikes but Acer manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Odenkirk takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Acer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Acer goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Odenkirk rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Acer's guard! Nice work there by Odenkirk!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Odenkirk postures up and lands a big shot to Acer's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Isiah Acer dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Odenkirk darts in and clinches Acer up against the cage.
Odenkirk lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Acer backwards.

Acer has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Odenkirk clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Odenkirk is taking damage to the body and head.
Odenkirk trying to control but not successfully.
Acer is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Acer throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Acer misses with an elbow to the head.
Acer is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Odenkirk tries to escape but Acer has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Odenkirk looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Odenkirk is in a bad position with Acer working for a choke. Odenkirk manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Odenkirk is sitting in close to Acer's body. Acer has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Odenkirk is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Odenkirk is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Acer.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Isiah Acer!
Isiah Acer decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
