The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lamel throws a right and a left that Simpson avoids nicely.
Simpson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lamel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lamel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Simpson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lamel's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Simpson trying to control but Lamel is working from the bottom.
Simpson controlling from the top position.
Lamel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Simpson slips nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lamel tries to kick Simpson off but Simpson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lamel is looking for a sweep. Simpson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lamel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Simpson is working away from the top position though.

Simpson seems to be working for a kimura but Lamel defends the submission attempt.
Lamel wants to control but Simpson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Lamel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simpson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Simpson is trying for a kimura here. Lamel looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Simpson wins by kimura!

Homer Simpson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Luther Lamel stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'll be back'.
