Hayes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Simple Man kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John Silver could well score a knockout today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silver.
Hayes misses with a looping left.
Hayes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hayes keeps the fight on the outside.
Josh Hayes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silver fails to land the takedown.
Hayes blocks a head kick by Silver.
Hayes misses with a double jab.

Hayes dives in and scores a takedown into Silver's guard.

Silver slips a jab and a cross from Hayes.

Hayes gets caught flat footed, as Silver shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hayes wants to sweep but no luck.
Hayes keeping moving, preventing Silver from controlling successfully.

Silver gets to his feet. Hayes looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Silver takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Some wild striking there from Hayes.
Hayes tries a head kick but it misses.
Hayes looks winded!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hayes.
No joy there for Hayes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hayes is defended easily by Silver.

Silver closes the distance and pushes Hayes back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silver manages to break the clinch.
Hayes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silver circles away.
John Silver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Hayes.
Hayes throws a series of punches but Silver moves out of range.

Silver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hayes, pushing him back against the cage.
Hayes has had enough of the clinch but Silver keeps him there for the moment.
Hayes tries to break the clinch but Silver is controlling the position.

Silver jumps guard and drags Hayes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Silver pulls Hayes in close to prevent any damage.

Silver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hayes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hayes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hayes throws a sloppy strike and Silver has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Hayes is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Silver!
