PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Anderson Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merrimac Mjolnir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the ring accompanied by Dear Agony. Mjolnir has chosen Die for Metal as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Merrimac Mjolnir!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Mjolnir moves out of range easily.
Jones slips under a jab from Mjolnir.
Mjolnir throws out a powerful jab.
Jones fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mjolnir.
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mjolnir misses with a looping right.
Jones has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jones there as he acknowledges the shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mjolnir gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Jones counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
A head kick misses from Mjolnir.
Mjolnir fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Mjolnir on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Mjolnir counters with a nice leg kick.

Mjolnir moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Jones gets through Mjolnir's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mjolnir.
Mjolnir tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jones's elbow.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Mjolnir presses Jones against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters circling a little - Mjolnir finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Mjolnir tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jones.
Mjolnir pivots, looking for a leg kick but Jones is out of range and Mjolnir settles back down.
Jones has been working on his boxing with his coaches at [CBK] Punch-kicker Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Mjolnir feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jones's calf.
Jones throws a wild body kick that Mjolnir sees coming a mile off.
A telegraphed right hand from Mjolnir misses the target.
Jones lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mjolnir will feel that in the morning.
Nice uppercut lands for Jones. That snapped Mjolnir's head back.

It looks like Merrimac Mjolnir has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mjolnir throws a leg kick but Jones moved away.
A clash of legs there as Mjolnir blocks the low kick.
A thudding body kick lands there by Mjolnir!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Jones moves out of range as Mjolnir strikes.
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.

Mjolnir moves into the clinch successfully.
Mjolnir struggles to land a body shot inside as Jones controls his hands.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jones.
Mjolnir misses with a hook from the clinch.
Jones will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Mjolnir up against the ropes.
A head punch on the inside from Mjolnir fails to land.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Jones connects with a leg kick. Mjolnir looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Jones connects with a looping right hand.
Mjolnir thows a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Merrimac Mjolnir will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Merrimac Mjolnir's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Mjolnir's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jones under the eye.
Mjolnir throws a poor cross that misses
and Jones counters with a solid body kick.
Jones connects with a body shot that sends Mjolnir's belly button to the back.
Mjolnir tries to clinch up.
Jones stuns Mjolnir with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jones feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mjolnirs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Jones pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mjolnir is out of range and Jones settles back down.
Both fighters circling a little - Jones finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mjolnir.
Jones throws a wild body kick that Mjolnir sees coming a mile off.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mjolnir.
Jones drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Mjolnir misses with a hook
and Jones counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Mjolnir is breathing heavily.
A head kick misses from Jones.
Jones looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Nice uppercut lands for Mjolnir. That snapped Jones's head back.
Mjolnir on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jones lands a leg kick that knocks Mjolnir off balance momentarily.
Jones scoring well with a low kick there.
Mjolnir tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That has opened up Merrimac Mjolnir's cut even more.
A swing and a miss from Mjolnir.
Jones slips under a jab.
Jones scores with a nice body kick.
Jones throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Crunch! Jones slams his shin into Mjolnir's torso.
Jones lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jones throws a body kick that misses.
Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Nice straight punches there by Jones. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jones.

Jones throws out a head kick that Mjolnir doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Mjolnir crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Mjolnir's eyes and has decided to let it go on!

The cut above Merrimac Mjolnir's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mjolnir crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Jones - the referee stops the clock and Mjolnir gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Jones. Mjolnir manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Merrimac Mjolnir's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Mjolnir throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mjolnir cracks Jones with a good jab.
Mjolnir's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jones sizes up Mjolnir with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Merrimac Mjolnir's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Anderson Jones!
