Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Future Matthew!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero drops his hands momentarily and Matthew takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


It looks like Tomas Romero has been cut.
Matthew shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Romero counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Matthew tries for a takedown but Romero circles away easily
enabling Romero to counter with a crisp jab.

Matthew gets caught flat footed, as Romero shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Matthew manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Romero manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Romero has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Matthew has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Romero tries to work over Matthew's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Romero decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Romero counters with a nice low kick that buckles Matthew's knee momentarily.

Matthew wants to clinch
and Romero makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Romero stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Matthew jabbing away but nothing is landing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Romero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Romero has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Romero forces Matthew back against the cage and clinches.

Romero is trying to trip Matthew. He has hold of a leg but Matthew is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Romero persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Romero will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Matthew up against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Romero counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Matthew pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Matthew gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Romero counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Matthew tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Romero cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Matthew takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Romero dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Romero.
Matthew jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Romero walks away with a smile on his face. Matthew gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Future Matthew seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Romero darts in and clinches Matthew up against the cage.
Matthew throws a knee to the head but misses.
Romero stalling.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Romero for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Matthew jumps guard but Romero stands there with Matthew around his waist. Matthew gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Romero tightens his grip and picks Matthew up, before dumping him to the ground. Matthew manages to land in guard.

Matthew is trying to control the position but Romero postures up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Matthew takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Romero is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Matthew can do to turn this around?

Romero tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Romero has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Romero has hold of Matthew's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Matthew seems comfortable defending it but Romero has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Matthew is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Matthew is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Romero couldn't care less - he's delighted!
