Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dewayne Buckley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Verde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dewayne Buckley has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dewayne Buckley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Verde!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buckley tries for a takedown but Verde circles away easily
and Verde counters with a one-two to the body.
Verde with a jab.
Verde shoots in looking for a takedown. Buckley tries to sprawl out of it but Verde keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buckley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Verde doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Buckley counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Buckley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Verde works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Verde keeping moving, preventing Buckley from controlling successfully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Verde looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Buckley is fighting to break Verde's control of his arms but Verde is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Buckley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Buckley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Verde looking for a guillotine here but Buckley defends easily.

Buckley stands up from Verde's guard - Buckley perhaps looking for a knockout.
Verde shoots and misses

and Buckley counters with a takedown into side control.
Dewayne Buckley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Verde.

Buckley decides to stand back up. Buckley steps back and let's Verde get back to his feet.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Buckley seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Verde for as long as he can get away with.
Verde is looking to improve his position.
Buckley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Dewayne Buckley wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Verde shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buckley sprawls well. Buckley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Verde gets slowly back to his feet.

Verde darts in looking for a takedown but Buckley gets double underhooks and turns Verde into the cage.
Verde tries to pull guard but Buckley forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Buckley jumps into guard, dragging Verde to the mat.
Buckley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Buckley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Verde defends well.

Verde trying to control the position from guard on top but Buckley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Buckley throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Verde stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Buckley darts in looking for a takedown but Verde gets double underhooks and turns Buckley into the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Verde fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Buckley sprawls well initially but Verde persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Buckley wants to control but Verde is keeping busy.

Buckley is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Verde pulls his head out easily.
Verde stalling away here and it's allowed Buckley to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Verde stays in close to Buckley's body and controls the position.

Buckley working for submissions but it's allowed Verde to get to half guard.
Dewayne Buckley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Verde trying to control the action but Buckley is working from the bottom.
Verde passes the guard and advances to mount!
Verde looking to control but Buckley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Verde misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Verde blocks Buckley's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Verde wants to control the pace but Buckley is squirming around nicely.
Buckley tries to reverse the position but Verde maintains control.

Verde tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Verde can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Buckley is looking to escape.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Buckley really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Verde goes for an armbar but Buckley turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Buckley.

Carlos Verde has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Verde has his takedown stuffed

and Buckley counters with a shoot takedown. Verde fights it but they end up in guard.

Buckley stands up from Verde's guard - Buckley perhaps looking for a knockout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Verde gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dewayne Buckley will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Buckley counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Verde shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Verde showed some decent athleticism there.
Verde is trying to control the action in half guard but Buckley is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Verde is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Verde takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Buckley is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Verde pulls his head out easily.

Buckley is trying to maintain the position but Verde is very close to passing his half guard.

Verde looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Buckley is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buckley is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Verde pulls his head out easily.
Verde is looking to take a break and control but Buckley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Verde is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Buckley wants to control but Verde is keeping busy.
Verde slips a nice elbow through Buckley's hands, connecting with Buckley's forehead.
Verde is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Buckley controls Verde momentarily but Verde frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Verde wants to stand but Buckley has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Verde got a little sloppy there for a moment and Buckley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Verde has managed to get both his arms back between Buckley's legs - danger averted.
Verde tries to free his leg and advance position but Buckley is retaining full guard.
Buckley lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Verde!
Carlos Verde has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Buckley trying to control but he's not successful this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Carlos Verde.
I think Buckley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
