PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lindsey Sykes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lindsey Sykes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Gump!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sykes at a distance.

Sykes shoots in and bounces Gump off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gump is trying to control the position but Sykes postures up.

Sykes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gump fails to land with a series of punches.
A left lands for Gump.
Sykes dodges the punch combination from Gump.
Gump lands a slapping body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No joy there for Gump, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Sykes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sykes wants to work for an arm triangle but Gump is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sykes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gump doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sykes.
Sykes is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sykes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Gump manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sykes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Gump works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Gump trying to control but Sykes is working from the bottom.
Sykes working a defensive guard but Gump passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gump is trying to control. Sykes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sykes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gump trying to control the pace.
Sykes wants to control but Gump is keeping busy.
Sykes gets back to full guard.
Sykes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gump sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Forrest Gump.
Sykes looks for a takedown but Gump sprawls well.
Forrest Gump seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gump throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gump lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Lindsey Sykes has been cut.
Gump tries to bum rush Sykes with a series of wild strikes but Sykes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gump throws a right hand that Sykes ducks under and follows up with a left that Sykes also avoids with ease.

Sykes looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sykes stopping the sweep attempt from Gump.
Sykes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gump pulls Sykes in close to his closed guard and prevents Sykes from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gump trying to keep a closed guard but Sykes is proving a slippery customer.
This has been an exciting period of action!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gump is on top in guard.
Gump looking to pass the guard.

Sykes wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gump scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forrest Gump dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lindsey Sykes's cut.
That's time! Sykes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Gump drops Sykes with a beautiful combination! Sykes stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gump is looking for the KO!


Sykes is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gump connects with a stiff jab that staggers Sykes - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Forrest Gump!
After the fight, Forrest Gump was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
