Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ashley Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Batu Canario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ashley Davies has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ashley Davies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Batu Canario!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies tries for a takedown but Canario sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Canario moves into range and clinches up with Davies.

Canario successfully pulls guard.
Canario pulls Davies in close to prevent any damage.

Canario is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Davies being controlled here momentarily.
Canario not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Davies stopping the sweep attempt from Canario.
Davies seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Canario avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Davies missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Canario will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Davies looking to sit in guard and control but Canario gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Davies will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Davies looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Davies throws a good cross that connects.

Canario doesn't manage to clinch there - Davies circles away.
Canario keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Davies.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ashley Davies. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davies wants to clinch but Canario slips to the side

and Canario holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Davies is breathing heavily.

Canario manages to break the clinch.

Canario changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Davies looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Canario lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Davies down.
Canario content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Davies tries to escape but Canario is in control.

Canario decides to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davies shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Canario counters with a takedown into side control.

Canario stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Canario swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Canario lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Canario rushes Davies and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Canario decides to pull guard.

Canario pushes Davies off and gets back to his feet.

Canario shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Canario should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davies tries to hold on but Canario pushes him away.

Canario sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
I looks like Canario might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Canario gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Batu Canario dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Canario goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Davies closes the distance but Canario moves to the side

and Canario counters with a takedown into side control.
Davies is being controlled here.
Davies tries to escape but Canario is in control.
Canario lands some shots froms side control.
Davies is looking for a sweep.
Canario is looking to take a break and control but Davies is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davies trying his best to control but Canario has mounted him.
Batu Canario has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Canario cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Canario sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Canario's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Davies tries to reverse the position but Canario maintains control.
Canario controlling the position easily from mount.
BOOM! Canario connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Davies is working to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Canario connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Davies reaches up to try and control the position but Canario seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Davies rolls and tries to escape and now Canario has his back!
Canario lands a shot to the body.

Canario is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Davies knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Davies for a finish.

Davies is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Canario off. It looks like it's working - Canario slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Davies displaying calm under pressure there.

so Canario counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Canario postures up in Davies's guard and throws a big left but Davies blocks it.
Canario trying to control the position from guard on top but Davies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Canario not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Canario won't allow Davies to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Canario content to stall in guard here.
Canario with a nice head shot there.
Canario seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Canario gets to his feet - Davies follows without any prompting.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Canario closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Batu Canario showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Davies looks to land a combination but Canario avoids it well.

Canario shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Canario is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Canario pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davies is keeping the position for now.
Davies keeping moving, preventing Canario from controlling successfully.
Davies looking to hit a scissor sweep but Canario is one step ahead there.
Davies manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Canario manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Davies tries to stand but Canario is controlling from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Canario is on top in guard.

Canario drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Canario jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Davies is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Davies manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Davies goes for an armbar but Canario turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Canario.

Davies is working an open guard so Canario takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Canario tries to clinch there but Davies circles away.

Davies tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Canario counters with a low kick, right behind Davies 's knee.
Davies connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Canario fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Davies on the side of the head.

Canario shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davies's guard.

Canario is standing up over Davies. Davies looks to escape but Canario dives into side control.

Canario tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Davies is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Canario off and has taken his back!
Davies is trying to stick to Canario's back but Canario is turning into Davies. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Davies's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Canario.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Davies is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Batu Canario comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Canario has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
