PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steven Perkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uno Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steven Perkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Uno Torres!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkins ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Torres has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Perkins finds it's way round the side to connect with Torres's head.
Torres tries to clinch there but Perkins circles away.
Torres tries for a takedown but Perkins circles away easily
and Perkins counters with a left to the body.

Torres shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Perkins's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Perkins wants to sweep here but Torres controlling him for the moment.

Torres drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Torres jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Torres pushing down on Perkins's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Perkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Torres on the ground.
Perkins wants to improve his position but Torres is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Torres seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perkins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Perkins tries to kick Torres off but Torres keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Torres not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Torres seems to be working for a kimura but Perkins defends the submission attempt.
Perkins is trying to stand back up but Torres is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Torres is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Torres throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Perkins tries to roll over but Torres keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Torres is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Perkins sees it coming and defends easily.
Perkins is looking for a sweep. Torres is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Perkins on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Perkins tries to get out of the position.
Perkins is trying to maintain the position but Torres is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Torres working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Perkins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Torres is working away from the top position though.

Perkins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Perkins has hold of Torres's hands but Torres slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Perkins is trying to get back to full guard.

Torres is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Perkins is looking to control Torres's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Perkins avoid being mounted?
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Torres has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Perkins is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uno Torres dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Torres shoots in but Perkins avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Perkins connects with a good right hand that stumbles Torres. Torres circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We've been informed that Torres has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Torres takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Torres is trying hard to land a takedown here. Perkins sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nice body punch from Perkins.
Torres shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Perkins as he jumps to the side.
Steven Perkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uno Torres.
Torres wants to clinch but Perkins slips to the side
and Perkins counters with a stiff right hand.
Perkins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Perkins lands a lovely overhand right.
Perkins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Torres moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Torres walks into a jab.
Torres misses with a takedown attempt
and Perkins cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Perkins's jab looks to have found its range, popping Torres under the eye.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Perkins lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


Torres is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Torres has his takedown stuffed
and Perkins counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Torres to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Perkins!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Steven Perkins!
A relieved looking Steven Perkins thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
