The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burns blocks an elbow strike from Rivera.
Rivera tries to pull guard but Burns holds him up against the cage and eventually Rivera drops back down to his feet.

Rivera's coach down at 11th Planet MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rivera's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Burns will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Rivera up against the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Burns creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Burns is pushing Rivera up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rivera jumps guard but Burns stands there with Rivera around his waist. Rivera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Burns lands a big head kick that sends Rivera tumbling to the mat! Burns takes a step backwards and waves Rivera back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.
Burns throws a powerful right kick. Rivera tried to block low but the kick was high! Rivera was taken right off of his feet! Burns jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
