PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Greg Kodamski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hain has chosen Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Kodamski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Hain!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hain shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kodamski pinned against the cage. Kodamski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hain takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.


It looks like Sam Hain has been cut.
Hain closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kodamski circles away.
Greg Kodamski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Hain.
Hain shoots in for a takedown but Kodamski shows good takedown defense.
Hain tries to move into range but Kodamski moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hain shoots in but no luck this time.

Hain misses with a takedown attempt - Kodamski sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kodamski's waist but Kodamski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hain off to one side.
Kodamski misses with a few strikes there.

Kodamski gets a clinch.
Kodamski is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Hain drags the fight down to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hain striking off his back but it's not causing Kodamski any problems.

Kodamski gets to his feet. Hain looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Hain slips under a jab from Kodamski.

Kodamski gets a clinch.
Hain drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hain tries for a takedown but Kodamski manages to get underhooks.

Hain manages to pull guard.
Kodamski wants to control from the top but Hain keeps moving.
Kodamski throwing strikes but missing.
Kodamski is stalling in the full guard.
Hain looking for a sweep. Not yet Hain, not yet.

Kodamski avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hain trying to keep a closed guard but Kodamski is proving a slippery customer.
Hain throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kodamski postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kodamski but Kodamski pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kodamski misses with a few strikes there.
Kodamski drops Hain with a nice combination! Kodamski dives into Hain's guard, looking to finish!


Hain is rocked!
Kodamski seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hain is still in real trouble! Can Kodamski finish him?
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Greg Kodamski dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sam Hain's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kodamski looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hain seems to have recovered his senses.
Kodamski drops Hain with a left right combo! Kodamski follows him down to the ground into side control.
Kodamski wants to control but Hain is keeping him busy.
Hain tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hain is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kodamski off and has taken his back!
Well, with Hain on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Kodamski is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Hain gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kodamski controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Kodamski is trying to break free.

Kodamski is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Hain is breathing heavily.
Kodamski holding both Hain 's hands and preventing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Hain. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Hain is looking for the choke from the back position but Kodamski is controlling his hands well.

Hain is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kodamski is defending well though. Hain let's go of the attempt for now.
Kodamski is trying to break free.

Kodamski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hain on the ground.
Kodamski covering up well and avoiding damage.

Hain has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Kodamski! Can he survive? No! He's out! Hain gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sam Hain!
