The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dempsey tries to sprawl but Piekny drives through with a takedown into half guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Piekny working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Piekny tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dempsey defends well and Piekny ends up having to push Dempsey into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Piekny goes for a takedown attempt but Dempsey pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dempsey feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Pieknys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Piekny tries for a takedown but Dempsey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Reginald Dempsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marin Piekny.

and Dempsey rattles Piekny with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Piekny tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Dempsey dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Piekny stiff and motionless on the mat!

During a confident post fight interview, Reginald Dempsey thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
