Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marlin Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tanu Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tanu Singh has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Marlin Pena's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marlin Pena!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tanu Singh!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Singh shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Singh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Singh is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Pena is looking to stand up but Singh isn't so interested in that idea.
Singh wants to stand but Pena has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tanu Singh.
Pena closes the distance and clinches up with Singh, looking for a takedown. Pena pushes Singh against the cage but Singh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pena shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pena showed some decent athleticism there.

Singh tries to get to full guard but Pena has control of the leg.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Singh tries to bench press Pena off him but Pena keeps the position.

Pena's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Pena is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Singh's shoulder. That is not cool.
Singh is looking to regain half guard here but Pena keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pena works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Pena is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Singh is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Marlin Pena is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Singh closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Pena might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

and Pena counters with a two punch combo.

Singh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pena wants to stand up but Singh is controlling him.
Pena is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pena throws a strike but Singh avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Marlin Pena overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pena misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Singh feints and as Pena raises his hands in defense, Singh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Singh throws a strike but Pena rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Pena postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Pena is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pena trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pena is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pena seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Singh for as long as he can get away with.

Pena seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marlin Pena will probably get the nod.
