The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thaverde waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sanchez.
Sanchez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thaverde.
Smoka Thaverde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Thaverde.
Sanchez moves out of range of the strikes.

Sanchez feints and as Thaverde raises his hands in defense, Sanchez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Thaverde is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sanchez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Thaverde will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thaverde throws a shot from downtown. Sanchez moves away and avoids it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thaverde throws an overhand right that lands on Sanchez's shoulder, as Sanchez tries to avoid the shot.

Thaverde is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sanchez.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thaverde lands a big uppercut and Sanchez crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Sanchez looks OK. Thaverde waves Sanchez back to his feet!

Sanchez bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Thaverde comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Sanchez falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Sanchez was out before he hit the floor!
