Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Graig Holman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Nerly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Graig Holman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joseph Nerly!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Nerly.
Nerly is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Holman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nerly.

Nerly misses with a double jab
and Holman counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nerly throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nerly moves into range and clinches up with Holman.
Holman is trying to break the clinch but Nerly is controlling him.
Holman landing knees to the body.
Nerly putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Holman in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Nerly throws a punch but it's blocked by Holman.
Holman wants to get back to striking at distance but Nerly won't allow it.
Nerly pushes Holman back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Nerly manages to break the clinch.

Nerly has closed the distance and engaged Holman in a clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Holman.
Nerly lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Holman or not.

Nerly's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Nerly rushes Holman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

A head punch on the inside from Nerly fails to land.
Nerly blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Nerly keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Holman's efforts to push away.
Holman has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Holman takes an elbow to the temple.


It looks like Graig Holman has been cut.

Nerly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nerly clinches with his opponent.

Nerly pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Nerly gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nerly looking to throw knees to the head but Holman is blocking nicely.
Holman blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee is keeping an eye on Nerly - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Holman can't break the clinch.
Nerly can't find room to land a body shot as Holman controls the action.

Nerly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Holman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Holman shoots in for a double leg but Nerly sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Holman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Holman takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
A solid leg kick lands there for Nerly.
Holman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Nerly has closed the distance and engaged Holman in a clinch.
Holman is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nerly to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Graig Holman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Holman is breathing heavily.

Holman breaks the clinch.
Nerly throws a nice looking combination but Holman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nerly clinches up against the cage.
Holman misses with a body punch.
Nerly misses with a knee strike.
Nerly looking to throw knees to the head but Holman is blocking nicely.

Nerly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Holman throws a head kick but Nerly moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nerly throws a low kick, looking for Holman's leg but Holman calmly moves out of range.
Nerly goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nerly ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Graig Holman's cut.
That's time! Holman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Nerly clinches up with Holman and pushes him back against the cage.

Nerly's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Nerly moves into the clinch.
Nerly misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Nerly misses with a knee strike.
Holman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nerly has him pressed against the cage.

Nerly breaks the clinch.
Joseph Nerly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nerly uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Holman.

Nerly gets tackled into the cage by Holman. Holman maintains the clinch.
Nerly lands a nice knee to the body.
Nerly taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Nerly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nerly drives through and clinches with Holman against the cage.

Nerly fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Holman, pushing him back against the cage.
Nerly taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Holman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Holman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Holman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nerly wants to stand but Holman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Holman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Holman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Nerly throws a big elbow that misses.
Holman is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Graig Holman wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Holman pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Nerly moves into range and clinches up with Holman.
Nerly tries a body shot but Holman blocks it.
Nerly throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Holman blocks it with crossed arms.
Nerly tries a knee to the head but Holman blocks it.
Nerly is breathing heavily.

Holman tries to keep at a distance but Nerly has taken the fight into the clinch.

Nerly pushes Holman back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nerly just misses with a elbow thrown towards Holman's brow.

Holman is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Nerly.
Holman dives in for a single leg takedown but Nerly sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Nerly is pushing Holman up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Holman tries to pull guard but Nerly holds him up against the cage and eventually Holman drops back down to his feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Nerly throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Holman gets tackled into the cage by Nerly. Nerly maintains the clinch.
Nerly throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Holman blocks it with crossed arms.
Nerly stalling in the clinch but Holman improves position.
Nerly goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Nerly misses with an elbow over the top.
Holman dodges an elbow strike from Nerly.

Nerly escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Holman moves out of range as Nerly throws a body kick.
Holman blocks a head kick by Nerly.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nerly swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Joseph Nerly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Holman throws an overhand right that lands on Nerly's shoulder, as Nerly tries to avoid the shot.
Nerly takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nice takedown defense from Nerly. No joy for Holman on that attempt.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Holman.

Nerly instigates a clinch.
Nerly tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Nerly has had enough of the clinch but Holman keeps him there for the moment.
Holman's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Nerly tries to land a knee to the head but Holman blocks with his arms.
Holman has Nerly pushed against the cage.
Nerly tries to work over Holman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Holman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Holman is on top in guard.
Nerly has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Holman has passed into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Holman has hold of Nerly's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Nerly tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Holman cranks the arm and Nerly screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Nerly, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Graig Holman!
