Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borden's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Vance connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Borden scrambles back to his feet.

Borden feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Borden avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vance trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Borden not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Los Angeles inform us that Borden has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Vance seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Borden for as long as he can get away with.
Vance has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Vance enables Borden to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vance manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Vance has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Borden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Vance pushes Borden off looking to stand but Borden dives back in and keeps control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vance tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Borden manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
