Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Owen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Javier Ulrich!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owen stalks Ulrich and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ulrich's face. Ulrich staggers backwards, shaken.
Ulrich throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Owen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ulrich is in Owen's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ulrich postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Owen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ulrich, into his guard.
Owen gets to his feet - Ulrich follows without any prompting.
Ulrich shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Owen defends it nicely.
Owen has managed to clinch.
Owen is leaning against Ulrich and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ulrich is trying to drag Owen to the mat but Owen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ulrich pulls guard successfully.

Ulrich has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Owen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Owen wants to stand but Ulrich has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Owen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ulrich has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Owen has managed to get both his arms back between Ulrich's legs - danger averted.
Ulrich has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Owen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Javier Ulrich decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
