Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James McGuiness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franklin Diggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, James McGuiness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Franklin Diggs!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuiness scores with a jab to the jaw.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diggs is defended easily by McGuiness.
A jab from McGuiness misses.

Diggs drives through and clinches with McGuiness against the cage.
Diggs lands a hook that snaps the head of McGuiness backwards.
Diggs misses with a body punch.
Diggs slows down the pace here.
McGuiness misses with a short punch on the inside.
McGuiness tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Diggs is pushing McGuiness up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

McGuiness leaves Diggs with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and McGuiness counters with a series of strikes. Diggs will be more careful next time no doubt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diggs uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McGuiness.
McGuiness takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
McGuiness pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Diggs fakes a jab and throws a low kick but McGuiness checks it well.

Diggs clobbers McGuiness with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
McGuiness jabs Diggs right on the nose. Diggs blinks but takes it well.
Nice straight punches there by McGuiness. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McGuiness.

Diggs pivots, looking for a leg kick but McGuiness is out of range and Diggs settles back down.

McGuiness dodges the punch combination from Diggs.
McGuiness misses with a body shot.
McGuiness cracks Diggs with an open hand slap.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Diggs gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Diggs has clasped his hands together around McGuiness's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

and Diggs cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

McGuiness uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diggs.

McGuiness displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diggs.

McGuiness cracks Diggs with a hook to the temple - Diggs is on wobbly legs here! McGuiness swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Diggs falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! McGuiness wins by TKO!
