The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boyd closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Boyd trying to control the position but Lawal is working away.
Lawal wants to get back to his feet but Boyd drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boyd lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Boyd is looking to take a break and control but Lawal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boyd has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lawal tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The referee warns Lawal that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

It looks like Muhammed Lawal has been cut.
Lawal is in a horrible position here. Boyd smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boyd can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lawal is looking to escape.
Boyd lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lawal hang on?

Boyd has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lawal's face.

In his post fight interview, Milo Boyd started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
