PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoffrey King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica (Stone Cold Crazy). King has chosen King of my Castle by Wamdue Project as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Stone!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Geoffrey King!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Stone misses.
Stone slips under a jab from King.
King jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like James Stone has been cut.
Stone lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as King backs up against the cage.


It looks like Geoffrey King has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
King misses the jab.
Stone scores with a crisp jab that stopped King in his tracks.
Stone ducks under a wild hook from King.
King keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stone.

King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Stone throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
King misses with an uppercut. Stone saw that one coming.
James Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stone scores with a three punch combo!
Stone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The fighters circling - King throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stone shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King staying out of range there.
Stone looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A combination from Stone does no damage.
Stone throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

King avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Stone moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Stone misses with a wild body shot.
Stone throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A head kick misses from King.

Stone scores with a decent looking hook.
Stone gets cracked there but stands up to it.
King misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stone scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King throws a nice head kick!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King throws a head kick but Stone moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Stone dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


King walks into a straight right hand from Stone.
Stone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stone lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
King tries to land a front kick but Stone steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Stone closes the distance and clinches up with King, looking for a takedown. Stone pushes King against the cage but King circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
King bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice uppercut lands for King. That snapped Stone's head back.


James Stone's cut is getting worse.
King takes a jab right on the kisser.
Stone looks for a takedown but King sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King throws a head kick that misses.
King scores with a kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King scores with a decent looking hook.
King pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
King swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Stone.

Stone looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stone lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
James Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stone throws a lazy right hand but King sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
King throws a series of strikes that have Stone backpedaling.
Stone lands with a right hand.
Stone fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Stone shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Stone. Stone gets slowly back to his feet.
Stone throws a jab when King was well out of range.
King slips a straight right by Stone.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Stone swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and King counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Stone will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Stone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A slow jab from Stone misses its intended target.

and King counters with a nice leg kick.
Stone missing with a left hand there. King was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
James Stone is winning the standup battle so far.
Stone gets cracked there but stands up to it.


James Stone's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Stone with a lazy takedown attempt
and King counters with a left to the body.
King scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Stone doesn't seem bothered though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

King drops Stone with a left and a right! Oh, Stone is hurt - King dives into side control looking to finish!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Stone's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Geoffrey King!
