PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shane Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Marvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marvin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Apache kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Hank Marvin!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson throws a looping overhand right but Marvin ducks down to avoid it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wilson content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Wilson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We've been hearing that Wilson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Marvin wants to stand but Wilson is controlling the position.

Wilson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wilson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wilson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Wilson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Wilson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Wilson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Marvin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Marvin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wilson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marvin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Marvin takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wilson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Marvin down.
A lull in the action here as Wilson stalls from top position.
Wilson wants to take a breather but Marvin manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wilson.

Wilson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Marvin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Marvin has escaped and now he's on top!
Wilson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wilson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Wilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marvin is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wilson is on top in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wilson wants to control from the top but Marvin keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Wilson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wilson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Marvin circles away quickly and effectively.
Wilson throws a series of punches but Marvin avoids them all with ease.
A jab from Wilson finds it's way through Marvin's defenses.

and Wilson counters with a single leg into guard. Marvin didn't expect that.

Wilson arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Marvin's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Shane Wilson!
