Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lindsey Sykes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Jones!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks to land a combination but Sykes avoids it well.
Jones fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jones lands an overhand right.

Sykes rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Sykes has Jones pressed against the cage, preventing Jones from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Sykes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jones tries to circle away but Sykes has him pinned against the cage.
Sykes keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jones's efforts to push away.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Sykes keeps him there for the moment.
Sykes is trying to maintain a safe position but Jones gets an underhook and turns Sykes into the cage.
Sykes is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Sykes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sykes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sykes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sykes is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.

Sykes wants to work for an arm triangle but Jones is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sykes stops Jones from getting back to his feet.

Sykes is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sykes to get the leverage.
Jones tries to kick Sykes off but Sykes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sykes is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.
Jones wants to stand back up but Sykes manages to pass into side control.

Sykes swings around for an armbar but Jones sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sykes's guard.
Sykes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Sykes trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Sykes tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sykes trying to strike off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Sykes.
Sykes is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A nice combination there by Jones.


It looks like Lindsey Sykes has been cut.

Jones shoots in and bounces Sykes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sykes's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sykes is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Jones postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Sykes covers up, he's hurt! Jones keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Jones and the ref steps in to end the fight! Jones can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Jones!
An out of breath Jay Jones thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
