The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Van Winkle moves out of range as Steel strikes.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Steel wants to stand and escape but Van Winkle is having none of it.
Van Winkle throwing strikes but missing.
Steel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Winkle slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Some bone on bone action there as Steel checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Horrible takedown by Van Winkle or perhaps it was just good defense by Steel which made him look bad.

Steel is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Van Winkle is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Van Winkle has escaped and now he's on top!
