PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jerald Booth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Satkowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Satkowski's choice of entrance music: I'm a Souldier. Satkowski has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerald Booth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demian Satkowski!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Booth lands with a shot to the body.
Satkowski looks winded!

Satkowski gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Booth to score an easy takedown into full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Satkowski looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Satkowski is trying to control the position but Booth postures up.

Booth is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Booth postures up in Satkowski's guard and throws a big left but Satkowski blocks it.

Booth trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Booth lands a couple of digs.
Booth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Satkowski preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Booth gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Booth lands a high kick!
Booth shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Satkowski pinned against the cage. Satkowski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Booth moves into range and clinches up with Satkowski.
Booth comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Booth is trying to pull guard but Satkowski turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Booth wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerald Booth. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Satkowski is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Satkowski misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Booth pulls Satkowski into guard.
Booth lands a decent shot there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Booth tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Satkowski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Booth is proving hard to escape from.
Booth is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Satkowski tries to roll over but Booth keeps him under control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Booth lands a body shot.

Booth throws a head kick that Satkowski semi-blocks.

Booth moves into the clinch.

Booth ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Booth no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Satkowski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Booth has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Booth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Booth has taken the fight to the clinch.
Booth jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Satkowski walks away with a smile on his face. Booth gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Booth scores with a one two! Satkowski had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Booth forces Satkowski back against the cage and clinches.
Satkowski takes an elbow to the forehead.

Booth ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Booth no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Satkowski is breathing heavily.
Booth utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Booth looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Booth looking to control.
Satkowski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Booth trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Satkowski has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Booth.

Nice sprawl there from Satkowski as Booth shoots in.
Booth shoots in but no luck this time.

Booth shoots in for a takedown but Satkowski shows good takedown defense.

Booth closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Booth is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Satkowski has escaped the position, nice work there.

Booth decides to stand up, so the ref orders Satkowski to his feet.
Booth lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Booth moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Satkowski is pressed up against the cage. Booth has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Satkowski down to the mat. Satkowski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Booth drives through and clinches with Satkowski against the cage.
Booth is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Booth lands a nice elbow.

Satkowski decides to pull guard.

Satkowski looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Booth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Satkowski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Booth has managed to get both his arms back between Satkowski's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Booth misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Booth connects with a leg kick. Satkowski looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Booth misses with a double jab.
Jerald Booth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Satkowski on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Booth misses with a knee to the head.
Satkowski takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Booth just misses with a elbow thrown towards Satkowski's brow.

Booth decides to pull guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Satkowski trying to control the position from guard on top but Booth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Satkowski won't allow Booth to sweep him here.
Booth keeping moving, preventing Satkowski from controlling successfully.
Booth wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Demian Satkowski was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Satkowski takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Booth tries for a takedown but Satkowski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Booth lands with a nice body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Booth has a takedown stuffed.
Booth throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Booth clinches up with Satkowski and pushes him back against the cage.

Booth pulls Satkowski into guard.
Satkowski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Booth swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Satkowski stays in close to Booth's body and controls the position.
Booth will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Booth keeping moving, preventing Satkowski from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Demian Satkowski.
Booth works Satkowski's body with a nice hook.
Satkowski takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Booth throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Booth lands with a thumping leg kick.
Booth will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerald Booth. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Satkowski tries to clinch but Booth is having none of it.
No joy there for Booth, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Satkowski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Booth looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Booth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Satkowski looking to control but instead Booth has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jerald Booth showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Booth has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
