Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Alkadis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Alkadis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alkadis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Johnson.
Alkadis misses with a kick to the body.
Alkadis throws a leg kick but Johnson sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Steven Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson moves into the clinch.
Johnson is leaning against Alkadis and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Alkadis breaks from the clinch.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson tries to land a front kick but Alkadis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Alkadis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alkadis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Alkadis's guard.

Johnson won't allow Alkadis to get back to his feet.
Alkadis has his hands on Johnson's head, controlling the position.
Alkadis is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.

No joy there for Alkadis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Alkadis against the cage.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alkadis stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Steven Johnson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Alkadis tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alkadis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Alkadis, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Alkadis against the cage but Alkadis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Johnson has closed the distance and engaged Alkadis in a clinch.

Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alkadis swivels and escapes.
Alkadis moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Johnson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Johnson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Alkadis catches Johnson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Alkadis checks a leg kick.

Alkadis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Alkadis gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch.

Alkadis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
