Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes to the ring accompanied by It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Nick James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Liddell shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. James is trying to defend but Liddell finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Liddell is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer.
Liddell is controlling the pace.

James looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Liddell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Liddell pulls his head out easily.
Liddell trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.
James wants to get back to full guard but Liddell has mounted him!
James is trying desperately to improve position.

James looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Liddell wants to stand but James is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
James is wriggling around trying to escape.
Liddell is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. James is in real trouble.
Liddell has the hooks in. James is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Liddell looking for the choke but no joy.
James tries to break free.
James keeps trying to improve his position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Liddell just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Liddell is trying to stick to James's back but James is turning into Liddell. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Liddell's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by James.
James throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Liddell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Liddell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Liddell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Liddell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Liddell has escaped and now he's on top!

Liddell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Liddell wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.

James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Liddell works a leg free and moves into half guard.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
James has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Liddell is working away from the top position though.
Liddell prevents James from standing back up.
Liddell wants to control but James is keeping him busy.

Liddell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and James defends it well.

James looking for submissions off his back.
Liddell wants to take a breather but James is having none of it.
James wants to improve his position but Liddell is controlling well.

Liddell moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from James.
James is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James is still trying to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chuck Liddell will probably get the nod.

It looks like Chuck Liddell has been cut.
James keeps the fight on the outside.
James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Liddell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
James has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Liddell is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Liddell tries to clinch but James is having none of it.
James throws a left and a right that both miss
and Liddell counters with a slapping leg kick.
Liddell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing.

Liddell clinches up with James and pushes him back against the ropes.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Liddell tries to pull guard but James forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.
Liddell controlling the action here for a moment.
James tries to pull guard but Liddell won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Liddell manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
James goes for a takedown attempt but Liddell pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A combination from James does no damage.

James clinches with his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Liddell tries to land a knee to the head but James blocks with his arms.
James wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Liddell has him pressed against the ropes.
James is looking to break free of the clinch but Liddell has double underhooks.
Liddell throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but James blocks it with crossed arms.

James breaks from the clinch.
James stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Liddell.
Liddell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Liddell moves into range and clinches up with James.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Liddell is pressed up against the ropes. James has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Liddell down to the mat. Liddell avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick James.

Liddell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Liddell goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, James has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Liddell but great work by James.
Chuck Liddell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Liddell has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for James but great work by Liddell.
James is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Liddell off and has taken his back!

James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Liddell manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chuck Liddell will probably get the nod.

Liddell moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off.
James falls off balance throwing a combination
and Liddell counters with a low kick, right behind James 's knee.
Liddell shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Liddell closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away.
Liddell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

James manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Liddell on his heels. He'll look to pass Liddell's guard now, I'm sure.
James postures up.
James trying to move into half guard but instead Liddell has managed to sweep!

James looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Liddell is defending well. James quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Liddell has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! James celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nick James!
