The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorden throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Powers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gorden sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powers somewhat.
Jerome Powers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gorden looks to land a combination but Powers avoids it well.

Gorden drives through with a takedown into Powers's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powers keeping moving, preventing Gorden from controlling successfully.
