The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vovchanchyn jabs Carson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Carson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Vovchanchyn scores with a crisp jab that stopped Carson in his tracks.
Vovchanchyn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Vovchanchyn shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Carson eats them both and turns towards Vovchanchyn to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Carson closes the distance and clinches up with Vovchanchyn, looking for a takedown. Carson pushes Vovchanchyn against the cage but Vovchanchyn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Carson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Vovchanchyn will probably get the nod.
