PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christoper Puckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arron Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Arron Reynolds was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Christoper Puckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Arron Reynolds!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reynolds pushes Puckett up against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Puckett.
Puckett is trying to push Reynolds away but Reynolds has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Puckett has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Puckett drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Puckett wants to sweep here but Reynolds controlling him for the moment.
Reynolds trying to control the position from guard on top but Puckett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Puckett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Reynolds wants to hold on but Puckett pushes him away.

Puckett looking to secure an arm triangle but Reynolds defends it well.

Puckett cracks Reynolds with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Reynolds tries to lock up and control but Puckett gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Puckett has control of Reynolds's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Reynolds regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Reynolds really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Reynolds wants to control but Puckett is having none of it.
Puckett can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Reynolds is looking to escape.

Puckett working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reynolds is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Reynolds looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Puckett looking for the choke but no joy.
Reynolds tries to escape but Puckett has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christoper Puckett dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Reynolds lands a leg kick that knocks Puckett off balance momentarily.
Reynolds throws a right and a left that Puckett avoids nicely.
Reynolds looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Reynolds shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Puckett is looking to improve his position.
Reynolds trying to control the pace.
Puckett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Reynolds wants to pass to mount but Puckett is defending the position.

Reynolds tries to pass the half guard into mount. Puckett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Reynolds shoots in and gets a takedown into Puckett's guard.
Reynolds throwing strikes but missing.
Reynolds trying to control the position from guard on top but Puckett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Puckett wants to sweep here but Reynolds controlling him for the moment.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Reynolds fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Puckett manages to avoid it.
Reynolds throws a low kick, looking for Puckett's leg but Puckett calmly moves out of range.

Reynolds closes the distance and clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Reynolds stuffs the takedown attempt from Puckett. Puckett gets slowly back to his feet.

Puckett closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Puckett's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Reynolds wants the takedown. Puckett is fighting it off but Reynolds persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Puckett's guard against the cage.

Arron Reynolds has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Puckett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reynolds tries to avoid it but Puckett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reynolds to the ground. Reynolds escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Reynolds moves into the clinch.
Puckett is looking to break free of the clinch but Reynolds has double underhooks.
Puckett is trying to pull guard but Reynolds turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christoper Puckett. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Puckett wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reynolds has him pressed against the cage.

Puckett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reynolds is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Reynolds must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reynolds accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arron Reynolds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Puckett has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Reynolds.
Puckett tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Reynolds gets a takedown into half guard.
Reynolds prevents Puckett from improving his position.
Puckett slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Reynolds is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Puckett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Puckett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reynolds is aware though and is defending well.
Puckett will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Reynolds wants to stand but Puckett is controlling his posture from full guard.
Puckett bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reynolds's guard.

Puckett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reynolds is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Puckett, into his guard.

Reynolds stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Puckett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Reynolds takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reynolds stays in close to Puckett's body and controls the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Arron Reynolds was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Puckett counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Puckett.

Puckett tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Puckett is trying to drag Reynolds to the mat but Reynolds just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Puckett is trying to break the clinch but Reynolds is controlling him.
Puckett tries to pull guard but Reynolds holds him up against the cage and eventually Puckett drops back down to his feet.
Puckett misses with an elbow strike.
Puckett is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
