PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Bruno Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiang Shi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: See You In Hell by Grim Reaper. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruno Sparrow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jiang Shi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shi avoids the body shot from Sparrow.
Shi scoring well with a low kick there.
Shi tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Sparrow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shi has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shi is looking to land body kicks.
Shi wants to land a leg kick but Sparrow is out of range.
Sparrow's corner calls for a 1-2. Sparrow obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Bruno Sparrow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shi slips under a jab from Sparrow.
Shi misses the shot to the body.
Sparrow misses with an uppercut. Shi saw that one coming.
Sparrow connects with a nice looking jab.
Sparrow takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Shi moves away from the strike by Sparrow.
Shi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sparrow doesn't seem bothered though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shi sizes up Sparrow with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Shi tries a head kick but it misses.
Sparrow misses with a hook.
Shi lands a nice looking body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shi throws a leg kick but Sparrow sees it coming and moves out of range.
Shi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Sparrow scores with a body shot.
Shi misses with a head kick.
Shi scores with a crisp jab that stopped Sparrow in his tracks.
Shi misses with a hook. Sparrow ducked under it nicely.
Sparrow keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Good exchange - Sparrow coming out on top.
Shi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sparrow takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Sparrow cracks Shi with a good jab.
Shi throws a series of punches but Sparrow moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sparrow throws a right and a left that both miss.

Shi moves into range and clinches up with Sparrow.
I was talking to Sparrow's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Shi misses with a punch to the body.
Shi lands a nice elbow.
Sparrow avoids the elbow strike from Shi, against the ropes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sparrow tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Shi's elbow.
Shi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Shi just misses with a elbow thrown towards Sparrow's brow.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Shi.

Sparrow manages to break the clinch.
Shi scores with a shot to the body.
Sparrow avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Sparrow slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nice defenses there by Shi.
Sparrow bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Shi swinging wildly here.
Sparrow jabs at Shi's body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sparrow cracks Shi with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Sparrow takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sparrow throws a big shot that misses.
Sparrow checks a low kick from Shi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jiang Shi dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sparrow moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Shi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Sparrow lands with a cross.
Shi chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Sparrow lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Sparrow swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sparrow jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Boom! Shi lands a massive head kick that sends Sparrow crashing into the ropes, followed by a classic face plant on the canvas! He's up to his knees but he's not going to beat the count - this one is all over! Shi is jumping around like a lunatic, extatic with the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Jiang Shi!
Jiang Shi seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
