PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blitzkrieg Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Bowden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blitzkrieg Rage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Bowden!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage fails to land the takedown.
Nice takedown defense from Bowden. No joy for Rage on that attempt.
Rage blocks the body kick.
Bowden throws a head kick but Rage moves out of range.
Rage takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Rage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bowden's waist but Bowden gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rage off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blitzkrieg Rage. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bowden moves out of range of the body kick.
Rage tries to clinch but Bowden moves out of range.
Bowden wants to clinch up but Rage keeps it at a distance.
A head kick misses from Bowden.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rage lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Rage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bowden keeps working.

Rage slows the pace down in half guard.
Rage prevents Bowden from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rage looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bowden tries to kick Rage off but Rage keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rage has a takedown stuffed.

Rage bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rage has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Rage shoots in for a double leg but Bowden sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rage blocks a low kick nicely.
Rage tries to clinch up but Bowden circles away and keeps his distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rage forces Bowden back against the cage and clinches.
Bowden prevents the takedown attempt.
Rage is trying to break the clinch but Bowden has him pressed against the cage.

Bowden is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rage can't fight it off and eventually Bowden manages to take the fight to the floor. Rage looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bowden stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Bowden fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rage, pushing him back against the cage.
Bowden trying to stall but Rage improves his position.
Rage avoids the elbow strike from Bowden, against the cage.
Rage on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bowden is trying to stall.

Bowden is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rage is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bowden to the mat. Bowden regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Bowden is working an open guard so Rage takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rage shoots in but Bowden avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rage shoots in and drives through. Bowden sprawls well.
A head kick misses from Bowden.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bowden!

Rage drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blitzkrieg Rage dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Bowden clinches up against the cage.
Bowden tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
With the fighters up against the cage, Rage throws an elbow but misses.
Bowden stalling against the cage.
Rage gets underhooks to prevent Bowden's takedown attempt.
Bowden tries for a takedown but Rage manages to get underhooks.
Blitzkrieg Rage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Bowden.
Rage tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rage has Bowden pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rage pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bowden tumbling to the mat - Rage dives into Bowden's guard.

Rage is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bowden has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Bowden is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Rage looking for a guillotine from mount but Bowden is having none of it.
Rage looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
BOOM! Rage connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rage prevents Bowden from getting the reversal.
Rage looking to control and managing it successfully.

Rage with a couple of short strikes.
Rage trying to control but Bowden is having none of it.
Rage throws some wild stikes that Bowden manages to avoid easily.
Rage scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Bowden?

Rage cracks Bowden with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bowden wants to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bowden is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Rage looking to secure an arm triangle but Bowden defends it well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bowden looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rage is fending him off so far but Bowden persists. Nope, Rage circles away and we're back to standing.
Bowden stuffs the takedown attempt from Rage. Rage gets slowly back to his feet.
Rage is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bowden.

Rage moves out of range as Bowden throws a body kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bowden tries to avoid it but Rage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bowden to the ground. Bowden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Bowden gets a clinch.
Bowden has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rage is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bowden unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rage lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Rage prevents Bowden from breaking the clinch.
Rage tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bowden misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rage.
The is referee keeping an eye on Rage - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Rage keeping moving, preventing Bowden from controlling successfully.

Bowden stands and steps away. Rage gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Rage is trying to stand back up but Bowden is controlling him
Rage misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Bowden wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Rage uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Rage tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bowden wants to get up but he can't break Rage's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bowden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rage swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rage holds on and takes a little breather.
Bowden wanted to stand there but Rage had control of the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bowden tries to close the distance and clinch but Rage swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rage throws a hook but Bowden avoids it easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rage.
Bowden shoots in looking for a takedown. Rage tries to sprawl out of it but Bowden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bowden shoots and misses
and Rage counters with a nice kick to the body.
Daniel Bowden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rage bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Daniel Bowden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rage has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
