Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raphael Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Turner has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raphael Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Turner!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Davis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but Turner defends the submission attempt.
Davis content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Davis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Turner makes his way to full guard, as Davis worked for a kimura.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Davis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turner is keeping the position for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Raphael Davis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Davis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Turner did well to prevent Davis getting side control.
Turner wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.

Davis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Davis fails in his attempt to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Turner.
Davis throws a sloppy head kick

and Turner counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Davis is trying to break the clinch but Turner has him pressed against the cage.

Turner jumps into guard, dragging Davis to the mat.
Davis pushes down on Turner's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Turner is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Davis scores with a couple of nice shots.
Davis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Davis working over Turner with some ground and pound. Turner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Davis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Turner is looking for a sweep. Davis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Davis with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Raphael Davis just wasn't active enough.
Turner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davis's waist but Davis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Turner off to one side.
Raphael Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Turner.

Davis is looking to clinch but Turner is avoiding it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davis shoots for a double leg takedown but Turner sprawls well. He's pushed Davis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Turner gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Turner looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Davis passes into half guard.
Turner is not content to let Davis control the position.
Davis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Davis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Turner is just riding it out for now. Davis eventually gives up the hold.

Turner is defending against the submission attempts here by Davis.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Davis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Davis is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Turner is surviving well by controlling Davis's body position as best he can.

Davis lands with some strikes.
Davis working the ground and pound effectively.

Davis has hold of Turner's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Turner manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Turner wants to hold on but Davis pushes him away.

Davis content just to control the position here.

Raphael Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Davis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Turner's face.

Davis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Turner for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davis lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Davis misses with a head kick.
Turner shoots in for a takedown but Davis shows good takedown defense.

Davis shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Turner napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Davis controls the position from side control.

Davis stands up and beckons Turner to his feet.
Turner tries to clinch there but Davis circles away.
Turner throws a right and a left that both miss.
Turner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side.
Turner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Turner clinches with his opponent.
Davis is looking to take this one to the mat.
Turner tries to stall but Davis uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Turner tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Davis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Turner prevents it.
Turner misses with a knee strike.
Davis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Turner just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raphael Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Turner lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Davis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Turner avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Turner throws a punch but it's blocked by Davis.
Turner with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Turner tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Davis smiles and moves away.
Jason Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Turner to the mat! Turner manages to get full guard.
Davis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Davis trying to control but Turner is working from the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Turner can't keep his opponent in guard - Davis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Davis tries to pass to full mount but Turner defends it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Raphael Davis.

Turner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Turner lands in his opponent's guard.
Davis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Turner can do to turn this around?

Davis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Davis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davis tries to get out of the position.
Turner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Raphael Davis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Horrible takedown by Turner or perhaps it was just good defense by Davis which made him look bad.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Turner as he jumps to the side.

And that's the end of the fight!
Raphael Davis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
