The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch slaps away a takedown attempt from Hughes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lynch feints and then cracks Hughes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hughes down.
Hughes takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Lynch scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Hughes connects with a jab.
No joy there for Hughes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hughes will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Hughes cracks Lynch with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Lynch looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hughes finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hughes drops his shoulder and cracks Lynch with a huge uppercut! Lynch goes down! Can Hughes finish him?

Hughes slips nicely into half guard.
Oh Lynch is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hughes working over Lynch with some ground and pound. Lynch looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Let's hope that Hughes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Lynch has hold of Hughes's hands but Hughes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hughes seems to be working for a kimura but Lynch defends the submission attempt.
Hughes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Lynch seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hughes scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

and Hughes counters with a head kick from the bowels of hell that crumples Lynch! This one is all over!
