Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamaal Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Groves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Groves has chosen Freedom- Cam Groves as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt tries to clinch but Groves moves out of range.
Groves lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Schmidt at a distance.
Groves pushes Schmidt up against the cage in a clinch.
Groves is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Schmidt is defending well for now.
Groves is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Groves pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Groves tries to close the distance and clinch but Schmidt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Groves is nestled in close to Schmidt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Groves connects with a nice short shot to Schmidt's temple.
Well, if Groves is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Groves passes into side control, despite Schmidt's attempt to control the position.
Groves tries to move into full mount but can't pass Schmidt's legs.
Schmidt wants to get back to his feet but Groves drags him back down.
Groves wants to stand but Schmidt is controlling his arm.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Groves.
Groves throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Schmidt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Groves is in Schmidt's guard.
Groves is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Groves sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Schmidt's guard.
Schmidt pushes Groves off looking to stand but Groves dives back in and keeps control.
Groves wants to take a breather but Schmidt is having none of it.

Groves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Groves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

and Groves counters with a left to the body.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Groves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Schmidt napping and manages to drive through into side control!

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well Groves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Cameron Groves tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
