PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Domingo Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aoki Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki has chosen Baka Survivor as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez throws a shot from downtown. Aoki moves away and avoids it.

and Perez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Perez throws a hook to the side of Aoki's head but Aoki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Aoki lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Perez circles away quickly and effectively.

Perez throws a hook but Aoki blocks it.
Aoki thows a body shot but no joy.

The fighters circling - Perez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Aoki throws a lazy right hand but Perez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Perez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aoki thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Perez if he has to take too many more of those.
Perez takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Perez sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Perez lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Horrible takedown by Aoki or perhaps it was just good defense by Perez which made him look bad.
Domingo Perez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aoki Aoki.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Perez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Aoki - the referee stops the clock and Perez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Aoki. Perez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Aoki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Perez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Aoki somewhat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Perez blocks the body kick.
Perez is looking to wear down Aoki with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Perez takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aoki uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Perez.

and Perez counters with a nice uppercut.
Perez looks to land a right hand but Aoki moved out of range.

Aoki closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Aoki cracks Perez with a big right hand but Perez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Aoki lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Perez down.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Aoki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Perez is looking to escape.

Perez takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Aoki's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aoki Aoki!
After the fight, Aoki Aoki was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
