The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gabriel throws out the jab.
Burns drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Gabriel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gabriel lands in his opponent's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Burns not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burns is on top in guard.

Gabriel throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Burns escapes and throws Gabriel's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Gabriel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burns looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gabriel swings around for an armbar but Burns sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gabriel's guard.

Gabriel has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Burns is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Gabriel lands a couple of elbows.
Gabriel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Burns pulls Gabriel in close to his closed guard and prevents Gabriel from doing any damage or advancing position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gabriel throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gabriel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gabriel is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Burns is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Burns has escaped and now he's on top!

Well Gabriel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
