PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Macedon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ventura comes into the arena with Tech N9ne - So Dope blaring out of the sound system. Alexander Macedon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macedon wants to clinch.
Macedon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Macedon rushes Ventura and presses him up against the cage.

Ventura is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Macedon can't fight it off and eventually Ventura manages to take the fight to the floor. Macedon looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Ventura postures up in Macedon's guard and throws a big left but Macedon blocks it.
Ventura slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Macedon can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Ventura wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ventura tries for a takedown but Macedon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ventura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Macedon pinned against the cage. Macedon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Macedon slaps away a takedown attempt from Ventura, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Ventura. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Macedon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Ventura is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Macedon's shoulder. That is not cool.
Macedon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Ventura tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ventura has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ventura slows the pace down.

Macedon defending against the ground and pound.

Macedon rushes Ventura and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Macedon's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ventura wants a takedown but no success here.
Macedon lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Macedon misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ventura's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Ventura goes for a takedown attempt but Macedon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ventura tries for a takedown but Macedon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Macedon throws a big shot that misses.
Ventura looks for a takedown but Macedon sprawls well.
Macedon leaves Ventura with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Ventura shoots in but no luck this time.
Ventura tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Macedon defends well and Ventura ends up having to push Macedon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Macedon tries to break free but Ventura pushes him back against the cage.

Ventura blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Ventura lands a takedown into guard.
Ventura will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ventura is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Macedon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ventura is controlling him.
Ventura slips nicely into half guard.
Macedon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ventura.

Macedon is looking to escape.
Ryan Ventura overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We're going to have a standup here because Ryan Ventura wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Macedon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ventura counters with a good low kick that Macedon was not able to check.

Ventura has closed the distance and engaged Macedon in a clinch.
Macedon swings wildly with an uppercut but Ventura uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ventura drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Macedon gets the underhooks and prevents it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Macedon.
Ventura has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Macedon after a bit of a struggle.

Ventura's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ventura drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ventura throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Macedon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Macedon misses with a straight right.

Ventura shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Macedon's guard.
Ventura slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ventura drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Ventura as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Macedon screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Ventura! Nice submission victory there!

A less than humble Ryan Ventura misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
