The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix misses with a double jab

and Weiss counters by clinching up.
Weiss tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Phoenix smiles and moves away.

Weiss gets the takedown into side control.
Weiss looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Phoenix is avoiding damage well.
The strikes coming from Weiss are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
An elbow from Weiss crashes against the mat.
Phoenix tries to escape but Weiss is in control.

Phoenix throws Weiss to one side and escapes!

Phoenix moves into the clinch successfully.
Phoenix pushes off an throws an elbow but Weiss leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Phoenix's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Phoenix punishes Weiss's body with a nice straight punch.
Phoenix lands with a nice combination. Weiss backs away looking to recover.

Weiss is rocked!

It looks like Richie Weiss has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Phoenix throws a head kick that misses.
Oh Weiss is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Phoenix moves into range and clinches up with Weiss.
Phoenix has Weiss pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Weiss is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Phoenix - that's hurt Weiss badly! Oh, another knee lands and Weiss is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Weiss doesn't seem to be complaining.
