The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas throws a poor cross that misses
and Mendez counters with a nice body shot.
Lucas misses with a body shot.
Mendez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Mendez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lucas connects with a body shot that sends Mendez's belly button to the back.
Lucas connects with a right hand. Mendez shakes it off.
It looks like Omer Mendez has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lucas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lucas with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Lucas cracks Mendez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Mendez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Lucas finish him?
Mendez is rocked!
Mendez is breathing heavily.
Lucas closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Mendez out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Carl Lucas!
A very excited looking Carl Lucas rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
