Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Greg Starling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Jones!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Jones.

Starling moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

Starling turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Starling manages to end up in side control.
Starling really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jones struggling a bit here.
Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Starling misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ground and pound from Starling seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jones is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Starling is controlling him well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is not content to let Starling control the position.
Starling scoring with punches from side control.
Jones wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Starling lands a decent elbow from side control.
Jones tries to escape but Starling is in control.
Jones looks to move to half guard but instead Starling has passed into mount! Damn!

Starling goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jones turns into him and now he's in Starling's guard.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Starling will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones throwing strikes from guard but Starling blocks nicely.
Starling wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Starling works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Starling is keeping the position for now.
Starling has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Starling controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Starling is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jones has his hands clasped together but Starling extends and breaks Jones's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Starling.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Greg Starling!
