The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hannawald dives in and scores a takedown into Alex's guard.
Hannawald trying to control but Alex is working from the bottom.
Alex is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hannawald is controlling him.
Hannawald looking to pass the guard.
Alex not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alex is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hannawald is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Alex keeping moving, preventing Hannawald from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Alex tries to close the distance and clinch but Hannawald swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hannawald blocks the body kick.
Alex looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Hannawald scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Hannawald thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hannawald is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alex is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Alex wants to control but Hannawald postures up.

Hannawald is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Alex is trying to escape and Hannawald transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Alex is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hannawald! Very nice indeed!
