PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henk De Vries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Rabbit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Vries comes to the cage accompanied by EXODUS - Throwing Down. Rabbit has chosen Hero by Skillet as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Henk De Vries!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Rabbit!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rabbit is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
De Vries swats away the attempt to clinch by Rabbit.
Johnny Rabbit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Vries misses with a looping right.
De Vries misses the shot to the body.
Rabbit tries to close the distance and clinch up but De Vries swats him away and circles back towards the center.
De Vries throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
De Vries shoots in for a double leg but Rabbit sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rabbit looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rabbit gets a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rabbit trying to stall but De Vries improves his position.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Rabbit tries to land a knee to the head but De Vries blocks with his arms.
De Vries with an attempt at a knee that misses.
De Vries is trying to break free.
Rabbit tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

De Vries escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rabbit wants to clinch up but De Vries keeps it at a distance.

De Vries shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than De Vries was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

De Vries goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rabbit turns into him and now he's in De Vries's guard.

Rabbit drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but De Vries manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rabbit has De Vries in his guard.
De Vries trying to control but Rabbit is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

De Vries postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rabbit is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of De Vries, into his guard.
De Vries wants to hit a switch here but Rabbit passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for De Vries there!
De Vries is desperately trying to improve his position but Rabbit has a good base and remains in mount.
De Vries tries to improve his position but instead Rabbit has taken his back!
Rabbit just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
De Vries turns into Rabbit and is now in his guard.
De Vries looking to sit in guard and control but Rabbit gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rabbit pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. De Vries is keeping the position for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
De Vries is looking to sweep but instead, Rabbit has passed into half guard.
De Vries wants to improve his position but Rabbit is controlling well.
Rabbit passes into side control, despite De Vries's attempt to control the position.
De Vries tries to bench press Rabbit off him but Rabbit keeps the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rabbit decides to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnny Rabbit will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rabbit misses with an uppercut.
Rabbit throws a sloppy head kick and De Vries moves out of range easily.
De Vries takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rabbit tries to clinch up but De Vries circles away and keeps his distance.
Henk De Vries is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rabbit is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rabbit moves in looking to clinch but De Vries pushes him off.
Rabbit fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rabbit tries to clinch up but De Vries circles away and keeps his distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Vries avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

De Vries drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

De Vries tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De Vries has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

De Vries goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Rabbit rolls with the submission and now he's on top in De Vries's guard! Nice work there by Rabbit!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
De Vries trying to get back to full guard but Rabbit takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
De Vries is desperately trying to improve his position but Rabbit has a good base and remains in mount.
Rabbit looking to control but De Vries is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
De Vries is just holding on here. Rabbit manages to take his back.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
De Vries trying to control but not successfully.
De Vries tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Rabbit prevents De Vries from getting the reversal.
De Vries is trying to reverse the position but instead Rabbit has taken his back - oops!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
De Vries is really stuck here.
De Vries tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
De Vries is looking to improve his position but Rabbit isn't that keen on the idea.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rabbit stands up from mount. Strange move.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rabbit tries to clinch there but De Vries circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Johnny Rabbit will probably get the nod - 10:9.

De Vries throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rabbit moves in looking to clinch but De Vries pushes him off.
Rabbit connects with a looping right hand.
Nice uppercut there from Rabbit.
De Vries misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
De Vries looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rabbit tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Vries paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rabbit lands a jab to the head.
Rabbit wants to clinch up but De Vries keeps it at a distance.
Rabbit lets loose with a powerful body kick. De Vries will feel that in the morning.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rabbit throws a sloppy head kick and De Vries moves out of range easily.
Rabbit tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Vries paws at him with a jab and circles away.
De Vries shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rabbit as he avoids it easily.

De Vries circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rabbit swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by De Vries.
De Vries takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Rabbit moves into the clinch successfully.
De Vries wants to break the clinch but can't.
De Vries throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rabbit blocks it with crossed arms.
The is referee keeping an eye on De Vries - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Rabbit with an attempt at a knee that misses.

De Vries pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
De Vries takes one to the side of the head.
De Vries gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rabbit.

Rabbit closes the distance and clinches.
Rabbit dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

De Vries manages to pull guard.

De Vries throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rabbit uses it to pass to side control.

De Vries tries to bench press Rabbit off him but Rabbit keeps the position.
De Vries tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Rabbit is standing up, even though he is in mount.
De Vries throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

De Vries misses with a hook.
De Vries fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rabbit manages to avoid it.
De Vries ducks right into an uppercut from Rabbit.
Rabbit is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
De Vries keeps the fight on the outside.

Nice defenses there by De Vries.
Rabbit plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
De Vries throws a head kick but Rabbit moves out of range.
