Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duke Remington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyquan Zaal!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Remington misses with a straight left.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Zaal, as that shot connected.


It looks like Duke Remington has been cut.
Zaal bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Remington rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Zaal counters with a series of strikes that sends Remington to the canvas! Zaal follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Zaal slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Zaal tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Remington gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Zaal looking to ground and pound but Remington is blocking nicely.

Zaal avoids the attempt from Remington to control.
Remington really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Zaal jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Remington manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Zaal passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Remington!
Remington knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zaal on the ground.

Zaal goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Remington turns into him and now he's in Zaal's guard.
Remington loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Remington postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Zaal is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Remington is aware though and is defending well.

Remington trying to move into half guard but instead Zaal has managed to sweep!
Zaal working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Zaal throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Zaal wants to control from the top but Remington keeps moving.
Zaal throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Remington wants to stand up but Zaal is controlling him.

Zaal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zaal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Zaal has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Zaal is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Zaal lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Zaal trying to control the position from guard on top but Remington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Zaal with a flurry of punches that miss.

Zaal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Zaal throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Zaal is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Remington is trying to escape and Zaal transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Remington is forced to tap! Nice work there by Zaal! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tyquan Zaal!
Tyquan Zaal decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
